OSKAR J. ROJEWSKI - Felipe Morras (Philippon Mauroux), a Picard Trained in Ghent, his Workshop in Marseille, and his Stay at the Court of Isabella of Castile, pp. 49–66
This paper studies the life and possible artworks of Felipe Morras at the court of Isabella of Castile and aims, firstly, to analyze the problem of his origin, and to make a suggestion about the possible training of this artist in the world of the Flemish Primitives of the second half of the fifteenth century. Secondly, it addresses the documents related to his artistic activity, possible journeys, collaboration with Josse Lieferinxe in Marseille, and the court painters in Castile. The analysis and transcription of the documents from the Archivo General de Simancas allow to define the scope of the artist’s service at the Castilian court and reveal his importance as a manager of the royal collection and, finally, arbiter of the sale of Isabella of Castile’s paintings after her death.
